Hormone - What is Hormone?

Hormone is a chemical substance produced by special cells known as glands in the body.

Hormones are the chemicals which work as messengers in our body. They are produced by glands in the #endocrine system. Different hormones travel through the blood stream to deliver messages to the tissues and organs. They regulate our body by telling organs what to do and when to do it.

Major endocrine glands producing these hormones are Adrenal glands, Thyroid, pancreas, female or male reproductive system. Hormones regulate essential functions and major processes in the body. They help in running everything smoothly.

Hormones regulates and can impact your body’s -

  • Metabolism

When there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream, it causes side effects throughout the body. There are many things which disrupts hormone balance and function.

Usually these hormonal imbalances are reversible. When prolonged hormonal imbalance puts body system out of order for longer duration, it became more difficult to bring it back into harmony.

So identify and correct the causes of imbalance early on. It will prevent the onset of chronic disease.
